FYI Here you can set spell check and catch your own mistakes.
chrome://settings/languages
but make sure that it's on for English as well בדיקת איות בסיסית You can choose
.
That's a good way to check it after typing it, but is there a way to turn on automatic spellcheck with this? I used to have an add-on on my old computer, but I don't remember what it was called. It automatically underlined any spelling mistakes.
Try what I wrote a few pages ago.

I just checked and I actually have it activated. I just didn't make any spelling mistakes so I wasn't aware of it.

You don't need Grammarly for it. You can go into your Chrome settings and go into Languages and then the spellcheck menu and activate it from there.

How did you manage the move from Manhattan to Israel (I am not sure where you live but I think you wrote
)(you live somewhere up north meaning that you don't live in Jerusalem
Which makes it even harder no?
That's a good question.
I was here for seminary, so when I moved here after getting married, it wasn't total culture shock.
We also lived in Jerusalem for two years before moving up north, so it was a gradual adjustment.
I had a lot of friends and family in Jerusalem, and that was very helpful.
When we moved up here, it was to a very small and welcoming community where everyone was like family, so it was a pretty soft landing.
What about you? Were you born in Israel?
I noticed that your English is excellent. Is it your native language?

Sure as long as I reserve the right not to answer if I'm uncomfortable with it. :)
😉 ? Do I also have this right

.To enhance your English, I recommend reading english stuff
They're many very nice books in English like the bamboo cradle, full harvest(GELLA), All for the boss, etc, (these examples are all of the genre I like)
but they're many more books of all genres
My issue is with pronunciation - the same letters are pronounced differently like search/weather
How should I know how to pronounce less used words?

Very good books!
Full harvest is Fiction, about life in America in a remote region. What's GELLA?
The others are bestsellers - real stories.

Sometimes I happen to listen to an English speaker - Torah anytime- and I get I didn't know the right pronunciation of a certain word.

The Bamboo Cradle is great. (I've met the family and they are really incredible people.)
All for the Boss is a classic and highly recommended.
I'm not familiar with the other ones. Who wrote Full Harvest? It sounds familiar.

English pronunciation has very little rhyme or reason to it. The same letter combination can be pronounced umpteen different ways depending on the word. If you grew up speaking the language, you know how to pronounce things just from usage, but for a non-native, it can be very confusing. You can look up pronunciations in online dictionaries, but that can be pretty tedious.

Yea, the English pronounciation is definately ridicoulus, I once heared a French comedian's joke about it.
Take for example the words:
look vs door
read vs bear
and that it just scraching the surface.
But you don't have to be native in order to be able to manage the pronounciation, if you have enough experience you can manage to read correctly 90 % of the new words you have not read before.
