שנה שעברה בקיץ עם הגישו בקשה לאזרחות אמריקאית לילדים כאן בקונסוליה
הם קבלו את הדרכון והתעודת לידה אבל לא את הSSN
היא שלחה שאלה לקונסוליה

Thank you for sending the photo of the passport. I conducted a search in our system and did not find a number assigned to the name shown on the passport.

If you left the application at the CRBA/passport office the time frames start when we receive the application with all the required evidence at our office (usually this happens several months after you left the application at that office).

The processing time for a new Social Security Number (SSN) is approximately 8-10 months, however, for US born applicants, it may take longer.

The processing time for a Social Security card replacement or a name change is 2-4 months.

The mailing of a SSN card is not traceable, there is no tracking method.
All SSN cards are mailed from the U.S. via the regular USPS, not via courier.
You must wait to receive the card in the mail and, if you do not receive it by the above mentioned timeframe, please request instructions on how to apply for a replacement SSN card. The COVID-19 situation is also affecting mailing operation

המשרד בארץ לא לגמרי מתפקד. לפעמים הם מפספסים בקשות.
אפשר לבקש חדש כאן בארץ, או (יותר מהר) לבקש בחו"ל.

אופציות לבקשה בחו"ל:
1. לשלוח בדואר רשום לקרובים בחול את המסמכים המקוריים,
הם ישלחו בדואר רשום למשרד SSA
על הטופס לרשום כתובת של הקרובים בחו"ל ומספר טלפון שלהם- לשם החזירו את המסמכים ולשם שלחו את הכרטיס SS.
(בצורה הזו קיבלנו מספר תוך שבועיים אבל המסמכים נאבדו בדרך וחזרו אלינו רק בחסדי שמים.)

2. פיזית- הולכים למשרד SSA בארה"ב, מוצאים את המשרד הקרוב באתר של SS
מחכים בתור (בעיקר עם היספנים ושחורים)
וכשנכנסים מגישים את הניירת, ומקבלים חזרה במקום את המסמכים המקוריים.
לוקח בערך שעה סה"כ ללא נסיעות
לא צריך להביא את הילד.
נוסה בהצלחה על ידי סבים. אין לי מושג אם אפשר לשלוח קרוב משפחה אחר.

איזה תהליך?
כדי לבקש SSN צריך למלא טופס ולהגיש אותו עם מסמכים מקוריים: דרכון של הילד ושל אחד ההורים (שניהם חתומים!) ותעודת לידה אמריקאית או תעודת אזרחות.

בלי תור, אבל לשלוח בדואר/חברת משלוחים. אאל"ט אין אפשרות להביא לבד- אבל אפשר לברר.
הם אמורים להחזיר את המסמכים המקוריים בדואר תוך כמה שבועות.
בפועל יש להם הרבה סיפורים של אי הנפקה, או בעיה בהחזרת המסמכים... אז תתפללו

2 . How do I apply for a Social Security number for my child under age 12?

Applicants under age 12 applying for Social Security cards must MAIL (or use the drop box) their applications along with the ORIGINAL required documents to the Federal Benefits Unit at the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem via courier service and we will return their documents via courier service.

To apply for a Social Security number for a child under age 12, the following steps are required:

1.) Download, complete, and sign the Application for a Social Security Card, Form SS-5-FS. All questions must be answered and legible. Please type or print the answers.

Send ONE of the following original plus a copy

Original U.S. birth certificate. If you do not have the U.S. birth certificate, complete Form SSA- L706. It must be signed and submitted, along with the application and other documentation. This allows the Social Security Administration to verify the birth record with the custodian of the record.
Foreign birth certificate
Consular Report of Birth Abroad (FS-240)

Proof of U.S. citizenship (provide ONE of the following original plus a copy)
